I recently remembered a cave ride at Six Flags over Texas, and did a little online investigation. It turns out that the ride (which I remember from the mid 1980's) was one of the last dark (black light) rides... Spee-Lunkers Cave.
I was mainly drawn to the cave because it was cold inside (nice to get out of the dry heat). The animatronic characters and music had an eerie charm about them. We would always visit Casa Magnetica, and any and all shooting galleries as well... appropriate for Texas kids.
Spee-Lunkers Cave has been replaced with a Looney Tunes themed ride, which I personally think is rather weak. I guess all commercial theme parks have to be tied to other big franchises... so sad.
