I ordered some green patina from JAX Chemical this Thursday, and received it on Friday. I guess UPS doesn't dawdle with hazardous chemical deliveries.

I always forget to post before and after picture of my projects, since they generally involve some kind of restoration. In this case, I was just having fun combining components, which doesn't fall under the category of conservation or restoration.

Here is the original sword,
with a not-so-wonderful blade:

Here is the final piece, with a new bronze blade. I added a green patina to the bronze with several applications of JAX greening agent, and sweetened up the final finish with some wax.

As per my usual, things haven't really gone anywhere since last month. I've been preoccupied with work, church, tennis, and tomfoolery.

After a particularly annoying day at work, I vented frustration during tennis practice. I managed to twist/invert my ankle with my full bodyweight (but only suffered a class 1 sprain). I was foolish and continued practicing anyway, with "walk it off" in mind. Pain persisted. I stopped.

A week after my ankle recovered, I then proceeded to rip my feet apart via sprinting on the rocky/shelly beaches of NY at night. I spent most of last week gimping around, walking as little as possible.

During my physical down time, I purchased an old hand powered bench grinder, some sword components, and a blowtorch. This is the first sword that I've fitted in two years. The antique hardware is nickel-plated brass, and the blade is bronze. This was my first time working with bronze... soft and heavy. I plan to patina the blade.
